Message from the President
We will again be having available family tickets for the
2008 International Auto Show. If you are interested in going, see your manager to pick up
your tickets.
I would personally like to thank everyone for their help in removing all the
snow that fell around the dealership and on the vehicles New Years Day. It seems
like that stuff goes everywhere, plus it was wet and heavy to boot! It
definitely makes our customers feel more welcome that they are walking into an
environment where their safety is highly valued. Also, I would especially like
to thank Andy Osebold for going the extra mile and putting in extra effort to
have our doors ready to open Tuesday morning. Thank you everyone!

From the Fitness Club
Happy New Year 2008 to all of you!! Resolutions
,changes, commitments, lifestyle adjustments, keeping our goals on
target. Are just some of the reasons we love to start off fresh!!
New year with new beginnings! Here is the real deal though, lifestyle
changes are what most of us need to think about today not tom morrow!
Whether it is spending time with your family more, taking a walk outside
listening to nature on a regular basis. Or simply; giving something up
that really does not serve your higher self. That is what making
resolutions are all about. Not just saying or thinking I am going to do
it. But, to really make that commitment to arrive at a new level of
awareness towards your lifestyle adjustments (changes).
Here is how you begin;
1) Make your list of 12 goals (look at them everyday) Believable ones
2) Set the time a side daily to affirm your greatness (10 minutes)
pray/meditate)
3) Believe that you can achieve that and more! Your worth it!
4) Be a giver! It does not matter what it is a smile, a helping hand or
a positive thought to someone can make a difference to them and you!
5) Expect change!
6) Keep a positive attitude will attract positive energy!
7) Never give up!
Make this your great New Year!

Former Michigan car dealer pleads to fraud charges
A former Muskegon County, Mich., automobile
dealer will be sentenced next month for defrauding hundreds of customers,
Associated Press reports. Tony Allen Nielsen of Wayland is free on bond
until his sentencing hearing January 11th. He faces up to a year in the county
jail. The 43-year-old former owner of the Discovery Ford dealership in Whitehall
Township has pleaded no contest to three felony fraud charges. Prosecutors say
he cheated customers on extended warranties and by not paying off loans on
trade-ins. A no-contest plea isn't an admission of guilt, but judges treat it as
a guilty plea at sentencing. |

The 31 Red Flags rule -
part 1
This rule is effective this week (January 1, 2008) and must be
implemented within the dealership by November 1, 2008. So, what exactly
are these Red Flags?
The feds identified these red flags as potential indicators of identity
theft. You should consider addressing these potential indicators when
you develop your program. Here is the list:
Red Flags in Connection With an Account Application or an Existing
Account
Information from a Consumer Reporting Agency
1. A fraud or active duty alert is included with a consumer report.
2. A notice of address discrepancy is provided by a consumer reporting
agency.
3. A consumer report indicates a pattern of activity that is
inconsistent with the history and usual pattern of activity of an
applicant or customer, such as:
a. A recent and significant increase in the volume of inquiries.
b. An unusual number of recently established credit relationships.
c. A material change in the use of credit, especially with respect to
recently established credit relationships.
d. An account was closed for cause or identified for abuse of account
privileges by a financial institution or creditor.
Documentary Identification
4. Documents provided for identification appear to have been altered.
5. The photograph or physical description on the identification is not
consistent with the appearance of the applicant or customer presenting
the identification.
6. Other information on the identification is not consistent with
information provided by the person opening a new account or customer
presenting the identification.
7. Other information on the identification is not consistent with
information that is on file, such as a signature card.
Check back in our next newsletter (January 18, 2008) for part 2 of
the 31 Flags Rule. |

Consumer confidence climbs
slightly
Economists and policy makers are keeping
a close eye on consumer spending — which is increasingly being viewed as
the last line of defense for an economy that some fear is sliding into a
recession,
Reuters reports. The Conference Board on Thursday said its
index of consumer sentiment crept up to 88.6 in December from a revised
87.8 last month. The media forecast among economists polled by Reuters
was for a reading of 86.5. But despite the climb, consumers aren’t
seeing the U.S. economy through rose-colored glasses. “While consumers
are less negative about the near-term future, they remain far from
optimistic,” said Lynn Franco, director of the Conference Board’s
consumer research center. “In fact, assessing the current job market,
pessimists now outnumber optimists.” |
