Happy 30th Anniversary RCDJ!
This year marks the 30th anniversary of Richmond Chrysler Dodge Jeep. Now part of the Huvaere Group, Richmond Chrysler Dodge Jeep originally opened as VonWormer-Huvaere Chrysler / Plymouth / Dodge, Inc. in March of 1978 in a building in the Granary District of Richmond near the railroad tracks. In 1983, Richard Huvaere acquired the interests of Chris VonWormer and renamed it Dick Huvaere's Richmond Chrysler / Plymouth / Dodge.
Increasing sales and service caused us to outgrow our facilities and dictated the construction of our present main Richmond facility in 1988. In 1989 ambition and opportunity allowed for the addition of a sister dealership in Marlette, Michigan, Dick Huvaere's Marlette Chrysler / Plymouth / Dodge / Ford / Mercury. Simultaneously, Dick Huvaere Leasing's subsidiary, Quality Rent-a-Car, grew to eight locations and a fleet of 125 vehicles, making it one of Michigan's largest independent rental car agencies.
In the following years the rebuilding process allowed additions to our service center and property acquisitions on both sides of the dealership. Additionally, 1996 marked the opening of a state-of-the-art, 9000 sq. ft. collision and paint facility, Richmond Auto Body, now located at 66629 Gratiot.

As part of the anniversary celebration, our program of giving out over 400 new button-down shirts to the employees is nearly complete, with more coming this week. If you are still in need of shirts, see your supervisor.

More record snowfalls last week! A BIG thank you everyone for keeping our walks clear and cars visible to the public. Spring is only one week away!!

Spring also brings with it new buyer incentives. We now have the new 2009 Dodge Journey in stock, and it looks like another winning vehicle for Dodge. Our Lease Retention Department is doing a great job contacting current lease holders, reminding them of renewals and how easy it is to renew their leases, and bringing them back into our showrooms. March incentives are unbelievable! This month is truck month with programs that can include $5,500 Lease Cash, $1,000 Lease Loyalty, and $500 Bonus Cash. Let's make this another record year for Richmond Chrysler Dodge Jeep!

Healthy Hearts!
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in America. The good news is you can lower your chances of getting heart disease.
Here are a few healthy tips and guidelines to follow;
Practice moderation and balance daily. Start by eating a healthy diet with the foods you love. A well-balanced diet is one that includes a variety of foods in moderate amounts. Our bodies require many nutrients in order to function properly, and no single type of food can provide all of these nutrients. Balance the calories you eat with those you burn.
Eat more fruits and vegetables.
Healthy diets rich in fruits and vegetables may reduce the risk of heart disease and other chronic diseases. Fruit and veggies provide essential vitamins and minerals, fiber to promote fullness, and other substances that promote heart smart. Most are naturally low in fat and calories. Now that sounds great doesn't it! So, just look for the four forms of fruits and veggies; fresh, frozen, 100% juice and dried. And, of course my favorite organic when you can.
Select healthy fats.
Choose foods that are naturally rich in healthy fats. Ok I know what are those healthy fats anyways! Well, they include nuts and seeds and their butters, oils like canola and olive oil, soy products, salmon, and products made with non-hydrogenated oils.
Choose whole grains.
The dietary guidelines recommend that everyone "make half your grains whole". Whole grains are packed with fiber and nutrition. Fiber helps your body feel full causing you to take in fewer calories. Are you getting this? This is so awesome! Listen to this! Soluble fiber can be found in oat bran, oatmeal, beans, peas, rice bran barley, citrus fruit, strawberries and apple pulp has been shown to help lower blood cholesterol. So eat those whole grains!
Treat your daily diet like your bank account!
Set a calorie budget. Spend wisely and watch closely. Use portion control! That is everything! When splurging occasionally use portion control and choose wisely. By incorporating these healthy rules and getting yourself into a daily routine. I promise you will feel great! And, have lot's of great energy! And a healthier heart too!
Have a healthy week!

Global auto aftermarket to exceed $756B by 2010
The global market for replacement parts, components, and accessories has been growing impressively and the superior quality of OEM parts and components has not been able to arrest the growth in demand for aftermarket parts, according to a new Global Industry Analysts, Inc. report.

Electrical and mechanical components contribute lion's share to the total sales of auto components despite their mature stage of growth. However, fuel injectors and brake parts in mechanical components segment, and SLI batteries in electrical components segment are witnessing robust growth rates in the global automotive aftermarket, according to the report.

DIFM (do-it-for-me) category captures more than 75 percent of the automotive aftermarket. The primary reason explaining the fact is the increasing complexity in service and repair mechanism of the newer vehicles. On account of complex nature of parts, their service and repair, this category is poised to maintain or further improve its market share in the coming years. The US represents the largest automotive aftermarket with sales pegged at $213 billion for 2008. Automotive aftermarket in Germany is the largest in the entire European automotive aftermarket and is estimated at US$98 billion for 2008.
Chrysler LLC Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle (CPOV) Sales Post Records in Feb. 08
Chrysler LLC today reported that its Chrysler, Jeep(R) and Dodge dealers sold a new monthly sales record of 11,677 Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles (CPOV) in February 2008, a 15 percent increase from 2007 sales of 10,163 units. During February, Chrysler brand sales rose 13 percent to 3,697 units, Jeep brand sales advanced 19 percent to 2,878 units and Dodge brand sales spiked 14 percent to 5,102 units.
Year-to-date (YTD) CPOV sales also set a record with 21,444 units delivered. This was an 11 percent increase from YTD 2007 sales of 19,269 units. Vehicles posting improvement in 2008 include Chrysler 300 sales up 30 percent; Jeep Wrangler sales up 17 percent and Dodge Ram pickup truck sales up 11 percent.
"We are very pleased with the CPOV sales improvements made across Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge brands during February," Peter Grady -- Director, Remarketing and Fleet Operations, said. "The top notch safety inspection and peace-of-mind warranty package offered by the CPOV program is driving traffic into our dealer showrooms as it continues its appeal to customers."
Marketed as "Brand Spankin' Used(R)," Chrysler Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles are sold only through Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge dealerships that have had a comprehensive validation of the dealership's facilities, operational processes, and salesperson and technician training accreditation before they are authorized to sell Chrysler Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles.
In addition, Chrysler Financial consistently offers special financing programs for qualified CPOV buyers, and along with the Carfax vehicle history report, a Carfax limited buyback guarantee is offered as part of its certified pre-owned vehicle program partnership with the automaker.
