Health Care Update
Your Senior management team is working very
diligently with our Health Care, Disability and Life providers to bring
you the best possible coverage at the lowest possible premium. The
industry has seen another large jump in costs. Blue Cross has already
announced increases in the 16% to 20% range. We don't expect an increase
that large and will continue to work toward a balance of adjustable
co-pays without a significant reduction in benefit. We are waiting now
for providers to bring us a second round of options. We will keep you
updated. There are still a lot of
employees that are leaving their computers on all day and night.
Electricity is not free. We didn't become one of the biggest auto
dealers in the region by wasting money, but by being smart in how we use
what profits we bring in. In addition, shutting down computers at night
does not only help save electricity, but the makes the CPU and monitor
last longer. As an example, the electricity alone to run our computers
for 8 hours per day is approximately $6700 per year, which is even more
than our yearly water bill. Leaving them on all night effectively can
double that amount, adding another $6700 to that bill. If all the
computers and monitors were turned off every night, the money saved is
enough to effectively double your short term insurance and life
insurance policies. Let's all work smarter so that, as a company, we can
do more for each other in the future.

Chrysler sets new rules for discount
Chrysler LLC has stopped allowing employees to share
their employee discount price -- typically around 5 percent below
factory invoice on the purchase or lease of a new vehicle -- with
friends and extended family, the
Detroit Free Press has learned. "Chrysler LLC continually
monitors employee pricing in assessing its competitive position within
the marketplace, and the company adjusts accordingly," spokeswoman
Beverly Thacker said in explaining why the program was cut. She stressed
that the employee discount program continues for employees and retirees,
who are allowed six discounts for themselves and immediate family
members each year. |

Watch out for this warranty scheme
Police in Stuart, Fla., are investigating a local car
dealership to determine the extent of a two employees' alleged fraud,
according to local news reports. Officers on Monday afternoon were
called to Advantage Ford after an internal audit revealed an employee
had been adjusting repair orders for family members and other employees
to show no amount was due. According to arrest reports, a 45-year
old employee defrauded the company of $4,224.06 over several years by
falsely reporting the repairs as under warranty. She covered her tracks
by destroying some of the repair orders, according to arrest reports.
The company's 43-year-old parts department manager was among those the
employee wrote repair orders for, and he managed to get $800 worth of
free work done on his personal vehicle with her help, according to
arrest reports. Both were charged with grand theft and scheme to
defraud. |
