Message From The President
With spring comes our new Health Plan renewal.
Last Wednesday the new adjustments to our Employee Self Insured Life, Disability
and Medical Plan were announced to a large group of
our Associates and their families. Aside from the minor increase in costs and
adjustments in benefits and deductibles, a discounted plan for non smokers was
presented. Additionally, a weekly discount for active Plaza Fitness Center
members was also announced. Life style changes can pay off in a variety of ways,
and this is just several of many.
Employee Benefits Concepts has again been selected as our plan administrator.
They have served our plan well since inception,
and proven to be not only efficient but also cost effective for our plan. We are
proud to present this Employee Self Insured Plan which represents substantially
less cost than comparable commercial plans. We have
been Self Insured for seven years now and our associates have proven that
responsible health care habits can pay off in the form of lower rates.
Congratulations!
Congratulations to Dick
Huvaere and Richmond Chrysler Dodge Jeep! This month marks our 29th year in
business. We will be planning extensive celebrations in the coming year to mark
30 years in business in the same city of Richmond. Remember, Make Richmond Your
Destination. Our customers do!
USA TODAY and NADA Name Winner of Dealer Innovation Award
USA TODAY and the National Automobile Dealers
Association (NADA) will present the Dealer Innovation
Award today to Kim Maxwell, general manager of Hill
International Trucks, LLC, in Washington, Pennsylvania. Maxwell was
selected from among four finalists as the national Grand Prize winner of
the annual award. He is the first truck dealer to receive the award since
it was initiated six years ago.
The USA TODAY Dealer Innovation Award, conducted in association with
NADA, is given out each year to a new car or truck dealer who has
implemented effective initiatives that result in measurable improvements
for their business and employees, as well as for their community. The
theme for this year's award is energy conservation.
Maxwell built a state-of-the-art new dealership three times larger than
his previous store, while costing 77 percent less per square-foot in
energy to operate. He achieved these energy savings by
equipping the building with such high-efficiency
systems as: dual waste oil furnaces that are used in
an ambient floor heating system; a wash recycling system; light-colored
roofing material to reflect solar heat; air-locked door systems; dual
pane tinted glass; and fluorescent and metal halide
lighting schemes.

AAA: Most costs of auto ownership rise this year
Consumers are spending an average of 4.9 cents per
mile to finance their new automobiles, according to a
story in USA
Today , citing the
latest report by travel organization AAA on the costs of driving. Owners will
spend an average of $733 in finance charges to drive 15,000 miles a year,
compared with $716 a year ago, AAA says. The overall expense of automobiles is
unchanged at 52.2 cents per mile, when factors such as purchase price,
depreciation, and routine maintenance are factored in, according to the story.
The average cost of gas decreased, compared with last year, but all other
factors increased. Depreciation was the highest cost, at $3,392 or 22.6 cents a
mile, followed by gas at $2,100 or 14 cents a mile, insurance at $985 or 6.6
cents a mile, then finance costs and taxes.
