Attention Kroger Preferred Network Clients
Due to the recent acquisition of 20 local Farmer Jacks stores in Southeast Michigan, clients in the Kroger Preferred Network and not currently using a Kroger owned pharmacy (because it is outside the 5 mile radius) may now find that their pharmacy is within the 5 mile radius. If you live within a five mile radius of a Farmer Jack store that has been purchased by Kroger, you may now be required to use that pharmacy in order to take advantage of the Kroger Preferred Network options. If you have any addtiional questions, contact Laura Mason at 586-727-7577 ext. 1200.

Used vehicle sales prices rise on shortages
A shortage of late-model, off-rental used vehicles is forcing dealers to bid more aggressively when buying Spring inventory, and that's pushed sales prices up 1.9 percent on a year-over-year basis in May and a more modest 0.6 percent from the previous month, according to ADESA Analytical Services vice president Tom Kontos. Still, relatively weak retail demand continues to plague the used vehicle market and as off-rental and off-lease volumes recover, wholesale prices will likely soften again, Kontos says. For his full commentary look inside.

National City launches blank-check car loans
After a three-month pilot, National City Corp. has rolled out a program offering customers pre-approvals in the form of blank checks for their vehicle purchases. Called Check Ready, the program allows car buyers to qualify for new- or used-vehicle loans before they step foot on the dealership lot. Once approved, borrowers are mailed a blank check with a pre-set minimum and maximum. The checks are good for 45 days and can be used at any licensed dealership nationwide. These new Check Ready loans carry the same interest rates as National City's traditional auto loans, according to a report in The Journal Gazette.
