Our History

ABOUT US
A short history of Dick Huvaere's Richmond Chrysler Dodge Jeep -

Mr. Huvaere, a lifelong parishioner of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Richmond, lives with his wife Stephanie in Richmond's only State of Michigan designated historical home. His daughter Sara, graduated with Honors from Lesley College in Cambridge, Massachusetts and now teaches in the Detroit School System. Sara lives in Ferndale with her two sons Kaio and Matteus. Son Jason Huvaere, owns Paxahau - an event production / promotion company in Detroit. A son Ron, lives in New York and is a sales executive for United Health Care. And another son Ryan, who has graduated from Northwood University and is currently working at Chrysler Financial Services.
Now part of the Huvaere Group, Richmond Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep originally opened as VonWormer-Huvaere Chrysler / Plymouth / Dodge, Inc. in March of 1978 in a building in the Granary District of Richmond. In 1983, Richard Huvaere acquired the interests of Chris VonWormer and renamed it Dick Huvaere's Richmond Chrysler / Plymouth / Dodge.

Increasing sales and service caused us to outgrow our facilities and dictated the construction of our present main Richmond facility in 1988. In1989 ambition and opportunity allowed for the addition of a sister dealership in Marlette, Michigan, Dick Huvaere's Marlette Chrysler / Plymouth / Dodge / Ford / Mercury. Simultaneously, Dick Huvaere Leasing's subsidiary, Quality Rent-a-Car, grew to eight locations and a fleet of 125 vehicles, making it one of Michigan's largest independent rental car agencies. Changing markets and distance dictated the sale of both operations in 1991 and condensed The Huvaere Group operations to just the Richmond location.

In the following years the rebuilding process allowed additions to our service center and property acquisitions on both sides of the dealership. Additionally, 1996 marked the opening of a state-of-the-art, 9000 sq. ft. collision and paint facility.

Over the years, Richmond Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep has earned every award Chrysler Corporation offers. It is a designated direct-repair facility for Allstate Insurance, and it has always been on the leading edge of productivity and technology. Our payrolls now put over $3.5 million into the local economy. With over 100 local residents employed, the Huvaere Group is the city's largest commercial full-time employer. Richmond Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep also sponsors a variety of civic and community projects. Through the years, the combination of all operations has produced over 45,000 vehicle sales and nearly $500 million in sales volume.

New upgraded facilities at the Chrysler Dodge Jeep Dealership and the Plaza Professional Center on Main Street means the Huvaere Group is designed to meet our customers needs as well as offering new products & services.
The original slogan "Service is what we built this dealership's reputation on..." still prevails.
