When properly equipped, the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L can tow up to 7,200 pounds. To haul that heavy cargo, it offers two impressive powertrains. The base engine is a 3.6L V6 that gets up to 290 horsepower. Rear-wheel drive is standard, but four-wheel drive is also available. Both options work with an 8-speed automatic transmission. If you’d like even more power under the hood, you can opt for a 5.7L V8 instead.
The Grand Cherokee L offers a lot of capability thanks to the Selec-Terrain® Traction Management System. It also maintains impressive road manners on the pavement. The large SUV is poised and balanced, even on winding roads, and the well-weighted and responsive steering provides a lot of driver confidence.
The Grand Cherokee L comes with a spacious interior with three rows of seats and capacity for seven people. A second-row bench seat is standard, but you can replace it with a pair of captain’s chairs and a convenient center aisle. Each row is designed to be roomy, so everyone will have space to stretch their legs.
The overall look of the cabin is modern and luxurious, especially in the higher trim levels. Some of the available features include quilted leather upholstery, open-pore wood trim, and tri-zone automatic climate control.
With the seats upright, the Grand Cherokee L offers 17.2 cubic feet of space behind the third row. Folding the second and third rows flat boosts the maximum cargo capacity to 84.6 cubic feet. The cabin has a number of storage spaces for passengers to stow small items like keys and phones.
The Grand Cherokee L comes with a bevy of features for entertainment and information, such as the intuitive Uconnect® 5 infotainment system with a 10.1-inch touchscreen. Smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ is standard, enabling you to sync your phone with the onboard system to listen to music and access calls and texts.
Satellite radio is also standard. Optional features include navigation with real-time traffic and weather updates and a nine-speaker Alpine audio system or a 19-speaker McIntosh audio system.
Several safety features are included, such as Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go®, which adjusts your cruising speed to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead. Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path Detection is also included, which alerts you to vehicles in your blind spot when you’re changing lanes or reversing. Active Lane Management is also available to prevent you from inadvertently drifting into neighboring lanes.
