Both models offer drivers a choice of two different engine options. To introduce their lineups, the Ram 2500 and the Chevy Silverado 2500 give their base models a powerful standard engine:

As you can see, both standard engines keep up with one another for the most part; however, the Ram 2500 does offer slightly higher horsepower and much higher towing capacity. Simply put: If you’re looking for the most out of a standard model, the Ram 2500 is capable of more.

Of course, it’s not just about the numbers. For a truck that can handle any task, you’ll want a model that comes with its fair share of performance features. For example, the Ram 2500 uses available Bilstein® Gas-Charged Monotube Shocks to tackle any uneven or rough terrain. Once engaged, they provide a smoother ride so you can focus on carving your own path. So, go ahead, head off-road with confidence.

Unfortunately, the Silverado does not offer a trim level built for off-roading or include any off-roading features.

To help you feel confident when you’re behind the wheel, both models provide plenty of standard and available safety systems. Some of their similar standard features include brand-specific versions of:

• ParkView® Rear Back-Up Camera
• Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control
• Tire Pressure Monitoring Display and Tire-Fill Alert

They both also offer available driver-assistance aids, such as versions of Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking, LaneSense® Lane Departure Warning, and ParkSense® Front and Rear Park Assist.

Safety starts with sight. The Ram 2500 offers an available Adaptive Forward Lighting System complete with LED headlamps that turn up to 15 degrees. Some other available features are:

• 360° Surround View Camera: This camera system gives you a bird’s-eye view around the perimeter of your vehicle. It also offers an available 360° Trailer Surround View Camera.
• LED Trailer Hitch Light: Thanks to this integrated light, you can set up your hitch no matter the time of day—or night. The light effectively illuminates the hitching area so you can safely and securely hook up your trailer or other attachment.

These features are meant to assist drivers as they drive so their line of vision is clear for the journey ahead. The Chevy Silverado does offer available advanced headlights and cargo bed LED lighting; however, it does not offer an assistive lighting system such as the Ram’s.

Staying connected is no issue in either the Ram 2500 or the Chevy Silverado 2500. Still, one model tends to lean more toward fun luxuries and driver-focused systems than the other.

For example, the Ram 2500 has an available Uconnect® 5 NAV system, which adds:

• 12-inch touchscreen
• Customizable home screen
• Dual-phone connectivity
• Up to five user profiles

There, you can enjoy interfaces, see navigation, and control your entertainment and media settings. Although the Chevy offers many similar features, it doesn’t allow you to set up multiple user profiles as the Ram does.
